The Tribune-owned FOX affiliate went on-air with PowerCD in the first quarter of 2005. The installation brings additional power and a sharp reduction in operational costs to WTIC, which launched its digital channel (DT-31) in 2004.
WTIC also is using PowerCD’s IT-oriented infrastructure, which features an internal Harris Linux-based eCDi transmitter network monitoring and control system to optimize remote operation. The secure system with password-protected access levels provides full monitoring and control of all transmitter elements. It includes power amplifier status, output monitoring, cooling system monitoring and control, control system diagnostics, RF system mode control and RTAC control and monitoring.
