Media Bureau grants delay in cross-ownership matter

Apr 16, 2009 10:09 AM

The FCC Media Bureau April 3 granted a request to delay the filing deadline for amendments to waiver requests, renewal applications and requests for permanent waivers of the commission rule regarding newspaper and broadcast outlet cross-ownership.

The bureau extended the deadline to June 9 after receiving requests for the delay from Cox Enterprises, Bonneville International, Morris Communications and Scranton Times.

According to the bureau, the extension is necessary to give the FCC additional time to consider a request from the media companies that the ultimate filing deadline be delayed until 90 days after a final court order is issued on pending legal challenges to changes the commission made in the rule.
