New RipCode products increase VOD performance and operator efficiency

The RipCode V5 doubles the V4's video processing power.
A pair of new RipCode products — the V5 Video Transcode and Transrate Appliance and the Client Detection Application — meet the demand for faster, efficient delivery of mobile video, mobile broadcast, Internet video and IPTV.
The V5 doubles the processing power of the older V4 to handle larger volumes of VOD or live video content concurrently while ensuring video quality and integrity. RipCode V5 is suitable for delivering either video on-demand or live video content from a single appliance, so operators can address multiple markets from one scalable platform.
Engineered to manage large amounts of simultaneous transcode or transrate transactions, the V5 uses RipCode's On-Demand Transcoding methodology, which replaces traditional batch transcoding with on-the-fly transcoding. When coupled with RipCode's On-Demand Signaling Server, the RipCode V5 transforms an operator's network into a transparent peer point for video to any screen.
The RipCode Client Detection Application automatically identifies the characteristics of a variety of Internet-enabled devices and handsets to optimize video delivery or resize images for the mobile market, helping content owners and syndicators improve the user experience.
It also maximizes advertiser value by recognizing device attributes such as resolution, bit rate, frame rate, codec, geolocation and carrier identification pinpoints. This supplies intelligence for transcoding and delivering device-optimized video and banner ads that comply with the Mobile Marketing Association specifications.
The RipCode Client Detection Application is available with RipCode's On-Demand Transcoding appliances or as a stand-alone application.
