DIRECTV last week began offering HD programming to customers in the Mankato, MN, from KEYC (CBS), KARE (NBC), KMSP (FOX) and KSTP (ABC).

While Mankato is ranked 199th in Designated Market Area by Nielsen Media Research, the addition of the market elevates the total number of cities in which DIRECTV offers HD broadcast channels to 61. The direct-to-home satellite provided now reaches 70 percent of all TV households in the United States with HD broadcast channels.

The Mankato rollout is part of DIRECTV’s national expansion of HD programming, which is planned to offer local HD channels in 75 markets and encompass up to 100 national HD channels by the end of the year.
