Ipera Technology’s PixelMagic software enhances video quality for mobile reception.

Ipera Technology is rolling out its PixelMagic software, designed to help streaming video providers, mobile OEMs and IC vendors improve the per-pixel video quality of their mobile content.

The PixelMagic core technology uses algorithms to solve quality issues in video applications by reducing and/or completely eliminating distortions generated by various types of codecs, as well as noise and imperfections inherent in sensors and LCD displays. It supports most video codec formats, including H.264, VC1, DivX, MPEG-1, -2, -4, H.263 and raw video, and can be adapted to support future formats. Video formats for online video, PCs, portables, CE devices and professional video applications are also supported.

Currently, Ipera is targeting the software at the online video, video cell phone and portable media player markets. The technology has already been implemented as embedded DSP/microprocessor software for portable consumer devices and system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for IC companies with software based on an 80MHz DSP with code size of less than 100KB, or SoC with a power consumption of less than 150mW.
