KTRV-TV, the Block Communications-owned FOX affiliate in Boise, ID, recently completed an upgrade of its broadcast operations by installing a Sundance Digital FastBreak NXT Automation package to increase operating efficiencies and decrease downtime associated with tape based playback.

KTRV-TV initially installed basic FastBreak software in 2006 to automate interstitials at the station. The newly upgraded FastBreak NXT Automation suite now allows the station to automate control of all on-air operations of the simulcast analog and digital channel, including syndicated programming via Intelli-Sat, Sundance’s recording-management system for satellite and other incoming feeds.

KTRV’s NXT automation controls tape decks, a Thomson Grass Valley switcher, a Venus router, a Saturn switcher and two Omneon Media Decks.
