MediaCorp in Singapore has deployed the Harris H-Class D-Series Playout Automation application to control the terrestrial platform for Southeast Asia’s first high-definition trial channel.
The D-Series Playout Automation application provides a base for MediaCorp’s current HD trial channel and any future broadcast environment.
To take advantage of recent enhancements and the Open Source Linux operating system, Media Corp upgraded its existing D-Series installation from Version 3.0 to Version 4.0.
To meet MediaCorp’s stringent requirement of uninterrupted service during the D-Series upgrade, the Harris implementation team used the D-Series Playout Automation application’s ability to perform upgrades while the system is live.
This allowed MediaCorp to maintain the existing system for transmission playout and disaster recovery while installing the upgrade. Throughout the entire process, MediaCorp’s current channels remained on air.
