As of week ending June 28, 1.7 million U.S. TV households –or 1.8 percent of the TV market- could not receive digital television signals, according to The Nielsen Company.

The figure represents an improvement of 800,000 homes since the DTV transition became final June 12.

The Nielsen Company has regularly tracked the percentage of U.S. TV households that have been unprepared and provided a breakdown or those households that have not been ready by ethnicity and age.

The latest figure reveals 3.5 percent of households headed by those under age 35 remained unready for DTV 16 days following the transition. That compares to 0.6 percent of those headed by people over 55 years of age. By ethnicity, the figures for the week ending June 21, reveal 1.1 percent of white households, 3.5 percent of African-American, 2.3 percent of Hispanic and 2.5 percent of Asian households remained unready to receive DTV transmissions.
