Toshiba rolls out high-res LCD controller for mobile devices

Toshiba America Electronic Components (TAEC) recently introduced the TC358722XBG mobile digital display interface (MDDI) LCD controller, offering display resolutions of up to 800 x 480 pixels on smart phones and other portable devices.

The TC358722XBG enables both VGA (640 x 480) and WVGA (800 x 480) and features a full-frame buffer capable of displaying 60fps in low-power mode. The controller’s integrated image processor supports image processing algorithms for doubling, rotating, mirroring and interpolation; programmable gamma correction; and full 24-bit RGB output for the display of up to 60 million colors. It features Toshiba’s DRAM technology, which offers a 10Mb full-frame display buffer to drive a WVGA main display and a secondary one with a QCIF (176 x 144) resolution.
