The Audio Engineering Society has announced a series of events featuring celebrated recording artists Tony Bennett, Ben Folds and Ron Carter, to take place during the upcoming AES Convention. The convention will take place in New York’s Javits Center and runs from Oct. 20-23.

Iconic recording start Tony Bennett, whose career spans seven decades and has netted 14 Grammies and countless other awards, will appear with producer/engineer Phil Ramone on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 2:30 pm. The two will be joined by studio owner/engineer/co-producer Dae Bennett for a discussion of their recent collaboration on Tony Bennett: Duets II, on which the artist performs standards with such stars as Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Lady Gaga and others. Duets II is currently the number one album on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

This year’s daily Lunchtime Keynote events will feature jazz innovator, bassist/cellist Ron Carter, whose career spans some of the biggest names in jazz, R&B and rock music as both a bandleader and sideman, with a discography of over 2,500 titles, including work with such luminaries as Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. Music journalist and author Ashley Kahn will discuss Carter’s wide-ranging career, including his latest musical project, The Great Big Band. Ron Carter’s keynote event will take place on Friday, Oct. 21 at 1:15pm.

Just announced to the AES programming is a rare one-on-one interview with recording artist Ben Folds. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, the dialogue will cover Folds’ career, creative influences and perspective on the music business. An audience Q&A will be included, along with a discussion of music from his recent three-CD set, Best Imitation of Myself. The interview will be conducted by Errol Kolosine, assistant arts professor at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
