APT goes ‘Live’ at NAB2007

APT will introduce its new coding technology apt-X Live, to U.S. broadcasters at NAB2007. In addition, the company will unveil WorldCast Eclipse, a multi-interface, multi-algorithm audio codec designed to enable IP migration. The company also announced the NAB launch of extensive new IP audio capabilities, including a dual-port IP card and ISDN transport module, on the WorldNet Oslo codec, its flagship product for HD radio STL applications.
The new apt-X Live codec algorithm can deliver compression of up to 8:1 while retaining the same sound quality and ultra low delay. Prior to release, apt-X Live was tested to prove its audio quality in a series of independent listening tests. Participants were unable to discern any difference between 24-bit, 48kHz PCM Audio and apt-X Live. Visitors to the APT NAB booth #N4218 can listen and compare apt-X Live with Linear audio.
APT is currently offering apt-X Live to license, and the technology will be incorporated into the company’s codec range in late 2007. Microphone manufacturer Shure has already signed a licensing agreement to incorporate the technology into its wireless live performance products.
