CD sales increase in first half of 2004

Shipments of full-length CDs to retailers rose by 10.2 percent in the first half of 2004 from the previous year, the RIAA reported. This is the first time in five years that shipments of full-length CDs have increased in the first half of the year.

Overall, the number CDs and other audio and video music products, including music DVDs, shipped to retailers increased by 8.5 percent in the first six months of 2004 – to 289 million units from 267 million in 2003.
