Dolby Digital 5.1 won several Emmys this year.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awarded five Emmys in the Outstanding Sound Editing and Mixing categories to television programs broadcast in Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.
The winners were awarded Emmys for "Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing for a Miniseries or Movie," "Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series," "Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie, or Special," "Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera)," and "Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera)."
