Kodak Digital Cinema selects SRS Surround

Kodak Digital Cinema announced it will begin providing its high-definition digital pre-show presentations encoded with SRS Labs’ Circle Surround protocol. Kodak, which supplies more than a dozen major cinema chains in the U.S., Canada and Japan, will integrate SRS’ surround technology into all new pre-show packages, effective immediately.

The SRS encoding protocol delivers full-bandwidth surround sound content for up to 7.1 channels via a standard stereo transmission path, with a composite mix that is backward compatible with mono, stereo and LCRS playback equipment. The technology has been employed extensively in the broadcast sector by a number of major networks including CBS, ABC, NBC, ESPN, FOX and CBN, as well as major networks in Japan, Sweden and China.
