Sound Devices new 744t recorder

Sound Devices has released the 744T, a four-track production audio recorder offering B-format surround decoding with no additional hardware.

Using a SoundField microphone, users can monitor and output stereo audio from the Sound Devices recorder while recording multichannel B-format surround for later post-processing. The result is a significant reduction in the size and complexity of a mobile surround recording setup.

The firmware update makes it possible to capture full surround using the 744T and a single-point SoundField microphone.
