Editworks dubbing mixer Adrian Smith at the helm of the SSL C300 Master Studio System.
Editworks, a leading British post-production house, has installed a C300 Master Studio System from Solid State Logic (SSL). Specializing in high-end programs for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, Editworks needed to accommodate a sharp increase in 5.1-channel post-production work to keep pace with the proliferation of HDTV.
The new console replaces an SSL Aysis desk. Dubbing mixer Adrian Smith noted that the Aysis provided eight years of uninterrupted service, a key element in the selection process. “As dubbing mixers,” Smith said, “we have to master all of the equipment we work with so that our time can be spent being creative. Choosing the right equipment helps you achieve that. Some of the projects we work on require a very fast turnaround, so we had to hit the ground running. After a very easy install, the C300 took over where the Aysis left off.”
Smith also noted the C300’s controller layer, which allows use of a custom HUI configuration to control a workstation’s mixer, plug-ins and editing functions.
