To meet the complex requirements of delivering a Formula One motor race, Formula One Management (FOM) has selected the Lawo mc˛66 as its mixing console to produce international Formula One host feeds.
The royal league of motor racing season, which commenced March 14 with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, saw the first Fomula One use of the Lawo mc˛66 digital mixing console since selecting Lawo.
When the engine of a Formula One race car reaches 19,000rpm, TV viewers at home should hear — and even better, feel — the sound. The Lawo mc˛66 now delivers that overwhelming sensation to TV viewers worldwide.
The mc˛66 used by the FOM is installed in a container, which, together with all of the necessary technical and peripheral equipment, is transported to all Formula One races around the world.
The Lawo console is fitted with 48 physical faders, five DSP cards with more than 240 audio channels, full redundancy within the signal path and a router providing the required 1920 x 1920 matrix.
A Virtual Studio Manager (VSM) controller links the mc˛66 to the installed tally controller. A 19in VSM panel integrated in the console surface facilitates the direct assignment of audio-follow-video events to the camera tallies, either exclusively or by OR assignment.
