LaChapell Audio to introduce vacuum tube mic preamp at AES

The LaChapell 583s is a tube microphone preamp based on the company’s 992EG platform.
LaChapell Audio has introduced the first vacuum tube preamp in the 500 series format, the 583s. Attendees will find the LaChapell 583s, which is already shipping, available for inspection at Booth 846 at the Javits Convention Center in New York, Oct. 5-8.
The 583s uses an input stage is based on LaChapell’s 992EG platform in a single-ended form coupled with high quality Burr-Brown and THAT output drivers, resulting in more than 70dB of gain with a non-weighted EIN of -120dB in reference to a 150ohm load. Equipped with a 12AX7/ECC83 tube and a frequency response of 12Hz to 70kHz, the 583s uses the Cinemag CMMI-10 or the optional Jensen JT-115k input transformer and features a max output greater than 26dBu.
