NEP Denali adopts Calrec Alpha for dual-HD mobile production truck

The NEP Denali Summit remote truck features a dual-trailer design that easily houses a 96-fader Calrec Alpha console.
NEP Denali, a leading mobile television production facility, is using a Calrec Alpha with Bluefin console in its newest HD mobile unit to support production of large-scale entertainment and sports events. The 96-fader Alpha audio console is installed in Denali Summit, a state-of-the-art HD mobile unit comprising two 53ft expansion trailers wired together to provide robust production capabilities in a quiet, comfortable and spacious environment. The truck is capable of supporting 24 VTRs and more than 90 server channels.
Denali Summit launched in September 2008 with production for the star-studded “Stand Up to Cancer” TV special, shot at the Kodak Theater, in Hollywood, CA. Built by NEP Broadcasting, the mobile unit is wired for 24 camera control units, 20 VTRs and seven servers. Summit's Alpha console, among the largest such systems ever commissioned, is capable of 480 channel processing paths with dynamics in combinations of mono, stereo, 5.1 channels and 96 faders with two layers each as well as 5.1 groups and masters.
The console is equipped with four MADI ports and Hydra fiber connectivity to the stage, with 144 mic inputs and 48 returns. The Alpha's simultaneous multitrack system comprises 128 tracks each of built-in AES multitrack, guest AES multitrack, MADI multitrack and guest analog multitrack.
Calrec’s Bluefin signal processing allows the Alpha to deal with large numbers of surround sources. The console's assignable control surface minimizes screen use and provides direct access to the majority of console functions. For NEP Denali, this operational simplicity makes it easy to adapt to changes or late additions to a show.
