The Pragmatic TrueMusic 5.1 system offers wireless surround-sound transmission in the home.
Pragmatic Communication Systems has developed a wireless digital audio transmission system capable of transmitting Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS and digital PCM data. The TrueMusic 5.1 systems works ideally for wireless home theaters and distributes multiroom digital audio reliably and with easy installation. It is capable of producing an audio frequency response up to 24 kHz, with less than 0.5dB error.
Operating in the 2.4GHz band, TrueMusic offers a transmission range of about 300ft, easily enough to reach all areas of a typical home. The receiver boasts an extraordinary response of 20Hz–24KHz with a noise level of only –90dBV. Other specifications include stereo channel crosstalk of –90dBV, total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.03 percent and an automatic mute mode. The RF transmissions broadcast through most standard building materials, except exterior aluminum sidings and stucco with chicken wire backing.
The system consists of a TST-1 transmit signal processor and TSR-1 receive signal processor, which are connected to the audio source and sound system, respectively, via standard Cat 5 cables.
