James Lewis, one of the UK’s rising producers, engineers, mixers and songwriters in genres ranging from indie rock to dance, uses Avastor’s HDX-800 triple interface drives for tracking via Pro Tools. Working with such artists as Arctic Monkeys, The Pistolas and Simon Webbe, whose single “Ride The Storm” was chosen as the main title track for the movie Fantastic “Four: Rise of Silver Surfer,” it’s no wonder why Lewis required a drive that would outlast the competition.
“The Avastor drives give me the performance I need when tracking and editing during long sessions,” said Lewis, who is currently recording the band OK at Mayfair Studios in London. “I like the professional build specifications — notably the cooling fan and the grounded internal AC power supply. It’s a well-thought out product with pro features that you don’t often see in external FireWire drives.”
Avastor’s HDX-800 offers the highest transfer rates for both MAC- and PC-based workstations with its dual FireWire 800 ports. The HDX-800 drive has storage capacities of 80GB-1TB in a FireWire 800/400/USB 2.0 enclosure that is also equipped with an internal 110/220V auto-switching power supply and ultra-quiet ball-bearing cooling fan.
