SRS TruSurround technology creates a virtual surround experience from a TV’s onboard speakers.

SRS Labs, a provider of surround-sound, audio and voice technologies, has announced that Vestel, one of the world's largest OEM and original design manufacturers (ODMs), has chosen SRS as the audio enhancement provider for more than 70 models of LCD TVs for the European and South American markets. The licensing deal includes both SRS WOW audio and bass enhancement technology and SRS TruSurround XT virtual surround-sound technology.

According to the company, SRS WOW creates a substantially larger "sweet spot" and retrieves the ambient information of audio that is typically lost during the recording and playback process, resulting in an immersive sound field with restored clarity. SRS TruSurround XT, geared toward higher-end TVs, processes multichannel content to create a virtual surround-sound experience without the clutter of extra wires or speakers placed around the room.
