The Deva series of digital mixers/recorders was used in audio production for three of five of the Oscar nominees for achievement in sound mixing.

Zaxcom’s Deva hard disk recorder was used on three of the five films nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for achievement in sound mixing. Those three films under consideration for the 80th Annual Academy Awards are Jim Stuebe for "3:10 to Yuma," Peter Kurland for "No Country for Old Men" and Peter J. Devlin for "Transformers."

The Zaxcom Deva, available as the Deva 5.8 and Deva 16, provides 24-bit multidisk, multiformat location recording with backup to DVD-RAM or CompactFlash. The ability to background-record multiple disks throughout the day saves precious time in feature film and episodic TV production by allowing users to record all disk copies required by post at the same time as the original recordings. Production staff can immediately reference previous recordings on set, reducing potential disputes with post and providing extra copies of recorded audio in the case of lost, damaged or stolen material.

Winners of the 80th Annual Academy Awards will be announced Feb. 24 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
