Artist Intercom matrix plays role at NBA All-Star Game

NBA Entertainment relied on the Riedel Communications Artist Intercom matrix for the NBA All-Star Game last month.

The NBA All-Star Game at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas last month was the fifth consecutive year that NBA Entertainment asked Wireless First to supply an intercom system, as well as the fifth time the company chose Riedel Communications equipment for the job.

Connecting four locations 1000ft apart, the Riedel Artist Intercom matrix supported all of the pregame, halftime and postgame entertainment events, including appearances by Christina Aguilera, Wayne Newton and Penn & Teller.

The Artist matrix provided a decentralized fiber-based network backbone for intercom and distribution of analog and digital audio and TCP/IP signals. With the system, as many as 128 matrix mainframes could be connected via redundant optical fiber ring to form a single large, full summing, non-blocking distributed matrix with up to 1024 ports. About 30 Artist 1000 series control panels supported the four mainframes at the All-Star Game.
