Cubase Software to feature MP3 Surround

Steinberg has announced that its Cubase 4 music production software now features MP3 Surround capabilities. The technology is licensed from Thomson. Cubase 4 includes tools for encoding multichannel content in MP3 Surround. Steinberg joins eMusic, DivX, Sony Corporation and Samsung as companies that have recently licensed MP3 Surround.
MP3 Surround offers modest file sizes, similar to standard MP3. This makes it possible to offer podcasts and other broadband media distribution in surround sound, according to Thomson.
