The DPA Decca Tree is designed for precise surround-sound capture using up to five microphones.
At the recent AES Europe convention in Vienna, DPA Microphones launched a surround microphone placement and mounting system, the D3 Decca Tree. Also available as the S5 Surround Kit, the Decca Tree is a flexible, lightweight mounting structure designed to simplify the process of accurately capturing audio for surround sound. While optimized for use with DPA microphones, the system can also be used with a wide range of other brands.
The new surround mount is designed for the flexible configuration of between three and five microphones, accommodating most desired surround setups. A cable management system integrates all cables inside the mount for a clean look, often important in broadcast and fixed installations. The Decca Tree system also incorporates a new, innovative measuring tool designed by DPA to calculate the precise angles of the microphones.
