Meyer Sound Introduces M’elodie Ultracompact array loudspeaker

The new Meyer Sound M’elodie is a self-powered, ultracompact cabinet.
Meyer Sound has announced the M’elodie ultracompact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker, the latest addition to the company’s MILO family of self-powered speakers. M’elodie shares the smooth, extended high-frequency response and easy-to-use rigging of the premium MILO family, but has a smaller footprint than the MICA compact array speaker.

M’elodie provides a wide 100 degrees of horizontal coverage and produces maximum peak output levels up to 131dB SPL over its operating frequency range of 70Hz to 18kHz. Individual speakers measure approximately 29in x 9.5in x 13in weighing in at less than 65lb.

M’elodie is a two-way design. A pair of neodymium magnet 8in cone drivers cover the low/low-mid frequency range. An integral electronic crossover rolls off one driver at a lower frequency than the other in order to maintain optimal polar and frequency response through the crossover region. The high-frequency section uses a single 3in diaphragm compression driver (the same one used in MICA) for tight vertical coverage and coupled to a horn for constant horizontal directivity. M’elodie’s on-board power is supplied by a three-channel, class AB/H amplifier conservatively rated at 1200W total burst output (2400W peak).
