Billed as the world’s largest electronic media event, the National Association of Broadcasters’ annual convention is set to open its doors to a worldwide attendee base at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Exhibits are open from Monday, April 14 through Thursday, April 17. More than 1600 exhibits from 40 countries, representing 19 distinct allied industries, will vie for the attention of more than 110,000 expected attendees. This year’s show also will feature more than 200 new exhibitors.

“Content is king” at this year’s convention, with education, programming and products focused on the full content lifecycle, from creation, management and commerce to distribution across the ever-widening broadcast landscape, including emerging new media such as mobile TV. Industry experts will also present state-of-the-art sessions on a wide range of industry topics including the DTV transition, surround sound, mobile TV, IPTV and content migration across the Internet.

Tim Robbins, Oscar-winning actor, screenwriter, producer and director, will present the opening keynote address. Additional speakers read like a who’s who of content creators, including producer/directors Barry Sonnenfeld (“Men in Black,” “Get Shorty”); Anthony Zulker (“CSI”); Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof (“Lost”); and Doug Liman (“The Bourne Identity, Swingers”). Distinguished broadcasters including Charles Osgood, Bob Barker and Larry Lujack are among those slated to receive NAB awards at the show.
