Radio France goes with SADiE for mobile production

The LRX2 portable multitrack system makes mobile audio production a breeze for Radio France.
Public service broadcaster Radio France has purchased three SADiE LRX2 portable multitrack location recording systems and two PCM2 laptop-based editing systems for its mobile production needs. The systems will be used across the country to provide content for the broadcaster’s seven national stations.
“There are things that make SADiE really easy to use, even by people with a poor knowledge of computers, especially the project, the clipstore and the slip modes in the playlist editing. For high-end users, the trim window is wonderful,” said Philippe Destrebecq, DPA/DLP responsible for support production at Radio France.
The SADiE LRX2 location audio workstation is a multichannel recorder and editing station designed to sit directly beneath a laptop computer to create an instant remote workstation through USB connectivity. It combines SADiE's professional audio input and output “slither card” I/O modules with a tactile hardware control surface, providing up to 48 recording channels (64 channels via MADI interface). The SADiE PCM2, meanwhile, is a nondestructive hardware audio editing system complete with SADiE Version 5 software. It provides the ability to edit audio professionally wherever the user can take a laptop running Windows XP.
“The LRX units have been used at musical festivals in Beaunes, Saintes, La Roque d’Anthéron and the theater festival of Avignon,” Destrebecq said. “We’re currently planning to buy three more of them in 2010 to increase our coverage across the country.”
SADiE is now manufactured and distributed by the UK’s Prism Sound.
