Euphonix client and composer A.R. Rahman and the Pinewood Studios Group mixing team recently won a British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for their work on the award-winning “Slumdog Millionaire.”

Rahman captured the Best Music category, while the Pinewood Post’s rerecording mixers Richard Pryke, Ian Tapp and Glenn Freemantle as well as Resul Pookutty and Tom Sayers won for Best Sound. Additionally, Pinewood and Shepperton Studios were awarded a separate BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema during Sunday night's ceremony. Rahman, who has also received three Academy Award nominations for his work on the film, used his 32-fader Euphonix System 5 digital audio mixing system with EuCon Hybrid to create and mix the score.

Earlier this year, Rahman made film history when he became the first Indian ever to win a Golden Globe for Best Original Motion Picture Score for his work on the picture. In addition, Pinewood Post mixers Richard Pryke and Ian Tapp have been nominated for an Academy Award for Achievement in Sound Mixing, while Glenn Freemantle and Tom Sayers from Pinewood-based Sound 24 are Oscar-nominated for Achievement in Sound Editing. The film was mixed at Pinewood Studios Group’s newly renovated Powell and Pressburger Theaters, both equipped with Euphonix System 5 dual-operator film-mixing systems with EuCon Hybrid option for DAW control.
