Sony has introduced an all-digital portable wireless audio system designed to improve sound quality and increase system flexibility in the production of news, sports and documentaries.
Shown at the recent AES in New York, the new Sony digital wireless package is comprised of the DWT-B01 body pack transmitter and DWR-S01D digital wireless receiver. It also features the DWA-01D wireless tuner adaptor for use with Sony’s HDCAM, XDCAM, Digital Betacam and MPEG IMX professional camcorders.
Using a new Sony codec chip, the DWT-B01 and DWR-S01D units deliver 24-bit/48kHz digital wireless audio transmission quality. The system, Sony said, is distinguished by its low latency and secure, reliable operation. It delivers a wide dynamic range of more than 106dB and a wide frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz.
Incorporating a newly developed digital modulator, the system delivers intermodulation-free, equally spaced channel allocation, which allows for large-scale multichannel operations. Additionally, the system’s technology provides up to 50 percent more simultaneous wireless channels.
The new units are scheduled for delivery in April 2008.
