CNBC Pakistan has selected the Omneon Spectrum media server system to support transmission of the channel's 24-hour mix of local and international business news programming broadcast in both Urdu and English.
The eight-channel Omneon server system provides up to 60 hours of playout at 25Mb/s and is coupled with Apple's Final Cut Pro to provide a streamlined editing workflow.
Program material is ingested directly into the server and into Final Cut Pro for editing, after which files are moved via FTP back to the server system for direct transmission using Pebble Beach Neptune automation. The playout system, constructed at TSL's shop, went live at CNBC Pakistan's Karachi facility in November 2005.
