Al Jazeera Sport teams up with SGL, Avid at The London Studios

The London Studios has purchased and installed a Software Generation (SGL) FlashNet archive. The system was deployed to coincide with the start of the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Champions League group stages and to fulfill an ITV Sport contract to supply the Al Jazeera Sport channel with soccer coverage from all over Europe. The facility also provides footage from European, domestic and international football competitions.

The London Studios is the central London production facility for the UK's ITV network. The facility is using SGL’s FlashNet to archive selected footage from craft editing suites, which can then be restored and played out at any point during the season. FlashNet is controlled via the facility’s Avid Interplay system, taking advantage of the tight integration between the two technologies, and providing up to 1000 hours of high-quality SD media.
