The latest quarterly industry index published by the IABM reveals how broadcast equipment manufacturers are weathering the current economic storm. Global sales of broadcast and media technology suppliers have decreased year-over-year by 4.4 percent, compared to an increase of 10.6 percent one year ago.
It is encouraging, however, that although falling from last quarter’s indices, the operating profit-to-sales percentage remains at a commendable 10.5 percent for the market globally. Drilling down further, it can be seen that the larger companies are returning on average 12 percent, while smaller and midsize companies have a negative rate of 5 percent.
