Jünger Audio’s Level Magic helps Discovery achieve loudness consistency

Discovery is using the Jünger Audio Level Magic to control program loudness.

Discovery Communications has chosen Jünger Audio’s Level Magic technology to deliver consistent loudness and peak level management across all programs broadcast from its Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic headquarters in Florida.

Controlling loudness and audio level is an important issue for Discovery. The broadcaster was one of the first in the United States to adopt dialnorm. Each Discovery show is broadcast with a specific dialnorm value (-27dBfs plus or minus one).

The broadcaster has installed 15 rack-mounted, eight-channel C8086 Level Magic modules and 30 C8402 SDI input modules as part of a general technical upgrade of its Miami facility. Level Magic is a sophisticated adaptive-level control algorithm that is designed to adjust the level from any source at any time, with no pumping, breathing or distortion.
