Omneon MediaDeck

The MediaDeck compact video server will make its European debut at IBC2007.

At IBC2007, Omneon will introduce its ProXchange transcoding system, designed for high-volume, multiformat media environments. ProXchange is a media processing application specifically designed to run on Omneon’s MediaGrid active storage system. ProXchange performs conversions between a wide variety of video and audio formats. Conversion and re-wrapping between wrapper formats is also supported (QuickTime and MXF).

IBC2007 also marks the European debut of the Omneon MediaDeck — a compact, integrated media server system based on the Spectrum media server. The MediaDeck integrates 3TB of media storage, system management, GigE connectivity and SD or HD video I/O modules into one convenient package only 2RU high.

Also debuting in the European market is a new family of media interface components for the Omneon Spectrum media server, adding integrated MPEG-2 HD encoding capability to the platform, supporting both I-frame and long-GOP formats in bit rates ranging from 18Mb/s to 78Mb/s.

Omneon will also launch the MediaPort 6000 series, which adds support for additional formats via software codec technology. The MediaPort 6101 DVCPRO HD encoder/decoder is the first product available in the new line, providing real-time recording and playback of native DVCPRO HD.
