NRK, the national Norwegian broadcaster, has deployed an Omneon MediaGrid active storage system as the central core for its new Programme Bank platform at its Oslo headquarters. The project delivers large-scale automated, file-based production and playout workflows that will eventually extend across NRK's 13 regional sites.

A 231TB MediaGrid provides 5000 hours of central storage for NRK's operations, including shared storage for production and news editing workstations. Content ingest and playout functions use Omneon Spectrum servers, with active transfers to and from MediaGrid central storage.

NRK will connect more than 40 Apple Final Cut Pro workstations to MediaGrid and perform simultaneous shared editing on both static and growing media files.
