Volicon has introduced Producer — a new content repurposing extension to Volicon's Observer desktop monitoring and recording system. The product gives broadcasters a cost-effective means of easily creating and monitoring new assets from valuable content by capturing and repurposing it in a variety of industry formats for online distribution. The content can then be made available for distribution and sale to third parties, such as other news organizations or Web sites. Producer transcodes segments into one of several industry-standard online formats and automatically provides the output to either DVD, Web/FTP site or via e-mail to the third party.
The Producer consists of three modules: the acquisition module, which retrieves components of a broadcast and assembles them into a complete program suitable for online publishing; the transcoder module, which takes the content in its original broadcast format and transcodes it into the required format for Web publishing; and the publishing module, which automates the process of delivering the transcoded content to the Web sites specified by the broadcaster's client.
