BBC World Service chooses IBIS for 24-hour Arabic news channel

BBC World Service will be launching a new channel, BBC Arabic TV, this fall, broadcasting in Arabic to 22 countries across the Middle East. Powered by IBIS automation, the tapeless facility will use Omneon Spectrum media servers and will be integrated with a DaletPlus News Suite and an AP ENPS system

The channel will air from two studios, each with an IBIS ServerPlay application. One four-channel ServerPlay will be used for the main playout using rundowns sent from ENPS via MOS. The other ServerPlay will be used for backgrounds and loops.

Two IBIS ServerBase applications, one main and one failover, will provide media management for the Omneon Spectrum media servers and additional MOS interfacing for both studios. Vizrt will provide the graphics system.
