Concurrent launches solid-state drives for VOD applications

Concurrent has announced the launch of the MediaCache 1000, the first in a line of non-volatile flash SSD (solid-state drive) storage products.

Features of the new flash SSD storage products include: the ability to retain memory even during sudden power outages; three times the reliability of traditional disk-based storage, while supporting more than five times the streaming throughput; and elimination of seek time, latency and other electro-mechanical delays inherent in conventional disk drives.
