DVB-H signal to cover Singapore during Broadcast Asia

For the first time at Broadcast Asia, the DVB Pavilion will host live DVB-H demonstrations conducted by DVB member Nokia.
The live demo will showcase content supplied by MediaCorp Singapore (Channel News Asia, and TV Mobile). Nokia 7710 handheld communication devices will receive the content, which will also be shown in simulcast on conventional TV screens. During the week of June 13-17, the live DVB-H signal will also be transmitted to provide nationwide coverage in Singapore.
Also participating in the DVB Pavilion is Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), who will showcase its range of digital set-top boxes and IDTVs incorporating the latest DVB and MHP technologies.
On hand will be DVB representatives and technology experts to answer queries and provide information on technical standards for digital broadcasting that are already in use for the deployment of more than 110 million receivers globally. On Wed., June 15, DVB will present "Broadcasting to Handhelds – An International Review" as part of the official Broadcast Asia conference program. Peter MacAvock, executive director of the DVB Project, will chair the session and provide the opening remarks. The session will include presentations by Nokia’s Richard Sharp, Teamcast’s Gerard Faria, Nagisa Oyoshi of TBS in Japan, and Kyuheon Kim from Korea’s Electronics & Telecommunications Research Institute. Andrew Wajs of Irdeto Access will join the other speakers for a roundtable discussion to wrap-up the event.
The Digital Video Broadcasting Project (DVB) is an industry-led consortium of more than 250 broadcasters, manufacturers, network operators, software developers, regulatory bodies committed to designing global standards for the delivery of digital television and data services. The DVB standards cover all aspects of digital television. The consortium came together in 1993 to create unity in the march towards global standardization, interoperability and future proofing.
