Front Porch Digital acquires SAMMA Systems

Front Porch Digital has acquired SAMMA systems. The two companies are combining tape-to-file ingest with file and content management to provide a complete solution for the digital management of legacy tape archives.

Preservation of old videotape libraries is becoming more important as many older format master tapes are reaching the end of their life. Much of the 20th century's history is stored on these aging tapes, and many organizations outside the broadcast sector are looking to preserve their video archives for future generations.

Front Porch will retain all SAMMA personnel. Mark Gray will assume the role of executive VP of the company’s Americas division, reporting directly to CEO Mike Knaisch. Jim Lindner will continue in his role as evangelist and visionary in the preservation of A/V content.
