Go on-air in high def

On-Air Systems will announce at IBC 2005 that its new range of automated television playout products support HDV. On-Air playKast, the company’s new master control system for automated playout and live news production, and On-Air Kapture, its new ingest and validation system, will be demonstrated at the show with full support for HD/SD functionality, including ingest and playout of HD 10-bit 4:2:2 pictures.

On-Air Systems have adopted new Matrox X.mio multi-channel video and audio I/O card to deliver the HD capability for their server products.

At IBC 2005, On-Air will be demonstrating simultaneous HD and SD playout, DVEs with picture in picture and video rescaling, video trimming and graphics control in HD and SD, and multi-channel audio. Visitors to the stand will also be able to see On-Air playKast’s feature-sets for remote scheduling, media browsing, automated events monitoring, integrated multi-layered graphics generation and as-run logging.

The new HD/SD capabilities will allow broadcasters using On-Air Kapture to ingest multiple streams of video from any SD source as HD media, and ingest HD media in any format. Other new features include support for all major manufacturers' codecs, minimizing time spent on transcoding.
