Liberty selects Crispin PSIP Interface

Crispin, a supplier of broadcast automation software, equipment, services and support, recently installed a DTV PSIP interface to 12 of the Liberty network-affiliated TV stations. The installation took place over the past few weeks as Liberty prepared for the Feb. 1 FCC-mandated PSIP requirement. Crispin will install the PSIP interface to the remaining three stations this summer.
Crispin partners with LINX Pro Products, now owned by Micronas Semiconductors, to deliver a dynamic PSIP updating interface to their TVLinx software.
Accurate PSIP is an essential link between broadcasters and consumers. Also, PSIP interoperability between DTV encoders, automation, traffic systems and listing services is vital to the PSIP generator creating the proper data. This link defines the system information and program guide data necessary for correct operation of DTV receivers. PSIP is used, in part, to provide program schedules and guides, virtual channel maps, closed captioning and program ratings to consumer DTV receivers. Through sharing of information, television stations are able to preserve brand identity and promote available programming.
