ON-AIR Systems adds MainConcept MPEG-2 to K-Series

MainConcept has licensed its MPEG-2 codec technology to ON-AIR Systems, an international software developer for broadcasters. The MPEG encoder and decoder will be included as standard features in all new versions of ON-AIR Systems’ K Series, including its playout system, playKast, and its ingest system, Kapture.
ON-AIR can implement playout solutions that are compatible with third parties through open platforms and a wider range of codecs. The MainConcept collaboration has allowed the K-Series products to be upgraded from SD to HD ingest and playout without significant developmental effort.
