Omneon goes Dutch

L1 expects its new playout facility to be complete in early 2005. The facility will be equipped with Omneon SPECTRUM media server systems.
Dutch broadcaster L1, based in Limburg, Netherlands, has purchased an Omneon Spectrum media server system for its new Maastricht playout facility via local partner Gerrit de Jonge.

When L1 and systems integrator BTP complete the facility early in 2005, the server system will provide playout for two output channels transmitted to the northern and southern regions of the province.

L1's new system will operate under the control of an Aveco automation system and integrate with Avid editing systems. After the launch of on-air operations in 2005, L1 will look into transmission via the Astra satellite for a third channel to Dutch audiences and perhaps a fourth for broadcasts to viewers on the Belgian border.
