PlayBox is entering the newsroom automation business with its NewsAir product.

PlayBox Technology will launch a low-cost news room application at IBC20009. With a price-point affordable for modest local news operations, NewsAir integrates with the PlayBox playout platform.

The NewsAir NRCS provides journalists with a networked collaborative environment that can include news archive, chat, a phonebook and agency news aggregation as well as operation over the Internet that can work either separately or integrated with video facilities. The PlayBox and NewsAir combination provides full support for video and scripts, rundown management, prompter integration and playout.

Aimed at the smaller broadcaster who cannot justify the cost of an enterprise-scale newsroom system, NewsAir can be used for local news or to feed IPTV, mobile and cable channels.
