WKAR-TV expands digital HD capability with Utah Scientific

WKAR, a PBS affiliate located at Michigan State University, is expanding its HD capability with a digital routing system from Utah Scientific. The 144 x 144 UTAH-400 will provide the signal path for playout to air from an Omneon Spectrum video server under control of an NVerzion automation system. The new system went on air last month.

With the new configuration, WKAR provides one HD and two SD services over the air, with another three programming streams provided to the Lansing metro-area cable system operated by Comcast. The station also delivers nine channels of analog content on the university campus.
