See that blue line on the graph? That represents jobs data for the TV news industry according to Simply Hired. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a network news cameraman by trade, still clinging on to rapidly diminishing fortunes. The more appealing green line represents job data results for “Social Network”. So as that downward job trend continues across legacy media, I still believe there is tremendous opportunity in social media.

Avid says they spent a lot of time just concentrating on making the application more responsive and they weren’t kidding. Moving around the timeline, audio scrubbing, trimming and dragging things via segment mode is lightning fast.

The latest Veronis Suhler Stevenson forecast has some surprising predictions. The first may be expected: broadcast TV will surpass newspapers as the largest ad medium in 2008. But three years later, VSS predicts “total Internet ad spend” will surpass broadcast TV.

Western Europe smashes through 100 million digital homes barrier

New research published today by Informa Telecoms & Media shows that digital TV penetration of Western European households broke the 50% barrier in 2007, ending the year at 54%, up from 42% at end-2006.
