    Dalet and BeTomorrow Collaborate to Facilitate Second Screen Viewing

    Dalet Digital Media Systems, a leading developer of Media Asset Management (MAM) solutions, software and services for broadcasters, has collaborated with BeTomorrow, a digital agency and developer of sports apps, to produce a new app that streamlines live game and on-demand content production for second screen audiences. The companies started the collaboration by developing a second screen app that focuses on tennis, which will be featured at the Dalet booth (SL4524) at NAB 2013. The app can also be repurposed for other types of sports.

    SMPTE Launches Centennial Predict-the-Future Contest

    The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), the worldwide leader in motion-imaging standards and education for the communications, media, entertainment, and technology industries, today announced the launch of its Centennial Predict-the-Future Contest. Participants' projections regarding the state of television and cinema technology in 2016, the 100-year anniversary of SMPTE's founding, will be collected from April 7 to Nov. 1, 2013, and the winners -- identified by renowned analysts -- will be recognized during the Gala SMPTE Centennial Event in 2016.

    SMPTE, EBU, and VSF Form Joint Task Force on Networked Media

    The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), the worldwide leader in motion-imaging standards and education for the communications, media, entertainment, and technology industries, today announced the formation of the Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM) in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Video Services Forum (VSF). The JT-NM will engage manufacturers, broadcasters, industry standards bodies, and trade associations to map out a strategy for developing a packet-based network infrastructure for the creation, storage, transfer, and streaming of professional media.

    Wohler RadiantGrid Previews New Video Process Pipeline at NAB

    Wohler Technologies today announced that the initial release of the RadiantGrid(TM) Intelligent Media Transformation Platform version 8.0 will feature high-impact enhancements including full broadcast-gamut color legalization and high bit-depth within native color spaces. With these capabilities, RadiantGrid 8.0 will automate broadcast-gamut color legalization within the transcoding workflow and support up to 16-bit 4:4:4:4 YUV video while managing frame-level metadata such as field order and anamorphic aspect ratios. All enhancements will be available without expensive hardware or software upgrades.
